Satemwa Thyolo OP1

Thee van Sander
DESCRIPTION

This black tea has a wonderful aroma and taste and continues to surprise you. It has a slight astringency but just when you think, it strikes now, you still end up with a round finish. The 2nd and 3rd pours are also worthwhile.

Thyolo is the name of the area where the tea comes from but also of the variety used. This one is small-leaved, similar in character to the Sinensis variety and has slower oxidation. The tea bushes grow at an altitude of about 1,000 meters.

Satemwa is a beautiful tea plantation in Malawi. The plantation has existed since 1923 and spans 3 generations. The tea plantation is located around the Thyolo Mountains with tropical sunshine interspersed with refreshing rain showers. A lot of attention is paid on the plantation to health care, nature in the area, education and creates employment for about 2000 people from the immediate area.

Besides the beautiful ctc tea, since a few years there is also a development going on to make beautiful specialty teas, including this Thyolo black.
