Teavolution
DESCRIPTION

The incredibly kind and smiling Mr Lin sent us Long Jing again this year. This year 2 varieties, only one of which you can find here in the webshop, the other you have to come to the tea shop to get.
Long Jing 龍井 or Dragon Well is a refreshingly juicy, elegantly roasted flavour, silky smooth green tea.
Rich and deep, long-lasting green tea. One of China's best-selling teas. It comes from Mr Lin's organic tea garden in the Hangzhou area and the beautiful West Lake.Early spring picking in 2024.

Mr Lin's tea garden around Hangzhou was discovered in 2019 and since then he has sent us his freshest green tea every spring.
This year, 2024, he sent us 2 varieties of Long Jing. This is the sweet, pleasantly and elegantly, imperceptibly roasted, buttery variety that was picked earlier. Mr Lin introduced us to this tea as 'special Long Jing'. Worth a taste, it is an outstanding tea.

A little Long Jing story

Long Jing (龍井), or Dragon Well, is a Chinese green tea with a nutty, chestnut character that is loved by many. It is one of China's most famous green teas, grown around Hangzhou. The tea has a delicately toasted taste and floral notes, which gives it a soft and caressing sensation.

Long Jing tea is traditionally steeped in a wok, known as "sha qing". This processing method gives the tea a hint of toasted flavour.

How the Chinese drink it: use a glass pourer or long glass cup to pour it - it is most authentic when brewed in this way and you can watch the leaves dance while you drink - leaving the warm water on top of the tea. When bitter, dilute with fresh warm water. When consumed, the leaves are blown away to avoid getting them in the mouth, but if this happens, it is safe to eat them, they are organically grown.

(Another way to consume: put 4-5 grams of tea leaves in a lidded cup (gaiwan). Pour 80-85 degrees water over it. The first infusion should be 2 minutes, and the second to fourth infusion should be 30 seconds.

The leaves look fantastic in this glass pot made in Taiwan. Eilong Glass Jug
