A beautiful fusion of several organic spices makes a tasty addition to your spice blends. Spicy, sweet and comforting
This blend includes mace. When we first walked through the jungles of Sri Lanka with a guide who knew a lot about plants and trees, he asked us to open a green "nut. In it was a brown, smooth nut about 3cm in circumference with a bright red 'net' around it.
This bright red net around the nut looked really enchanting and I kept it well because I was so impressed with the bright color under the green flesh!
The nut is called nutmeg. That net is mace and is actually a by-product of the nutmeg harvest. Mace is used as a spice in various Asian dishes, as well as in stew and speculoos seasoning. Its flavor is milder than the nutmeg itself. The color fades to orange after drying.
