Picked in the second week of March
The tea garden was planted in 1860 by Captain J Jerdin, during the period when Darjeeling was being planted as a tea region. The tea garden is 237 acres (planted). Soom is located in northwest Darjeeling, about 18 km from the city
Soom means 'triangle' in the local Lepcha dialect. The symbol for the Hindu goddess of prosperity. It is reminiscent of the shape of the land and the shape of the pointed mountains in the background of the tea garden. Also, from the air, the tea garden looks like a triangle shape. A bright sunny-yellow infusion, herbs and flowers with a nutty-sweet infusion and a fresh astringency, capture the spirit of the Himalayas
The plantation is known to be high quality. The tea bushes have been around 130 years old. The tea garden is now part of the Chamong group which includes about 17 tea gardens in Darjeeling.
Because of the Corona Crisis, the tea could not be transported earlier but it is here now!
