The artist who made this Kyushu is named Gyokku
This piece was made by the highly respected Gyokko (玉光) Kiln, one of the master potters of the Umehara family. As these are handmade pieces, there may be slight variations in the shape and color.
This yakishime hira-gata Tokoname-yaki kyusu (teapot) is made of a gray-beige Tokoname clay, The wide, flat shape and small size of this kyusu are specially designed to promote even contact between the leaves and water, thus promoting the extraction of umami from high-quality sencha and gyokuro.
The sharp corners of this mold are prone to cracking under stress during molding and firing, so only extremely talented artisans can make them consistently
The flat shape makes this a very elegant jar where the wide opening allows you to see the tea clearly. This also makes cleaning the Kyushu easier.
This Kyusu has a capacity of 100 ml.
Cleaning: For daily cleaning, simply knock out the tea and rinse well with clean water, including through the strainer.
