Tea in Motion
DESCRIZIONE

A beautiful Raw (Sheng) Pu Er from ancient tea bushes (gushu, more than 100 years old) growing among the rocks at 1600 meters altitude

The geographical location is unique for Pu Er in the region as it is quite rocky. Most of the tea bushes are 100-200 years old and grow without pesticides or soil improvers. This creates a pure flavor and beautiful minerality.

The tea was picked in the spring from April 2020 and is still quite young. You can taste that in the infusion because it is not yet as mild as the old Pu Er's. The taste is nicely fresh and you can already taste a reasonable degree of sweetness and complexity that is so characteristic of Raw Pu Er.

Matai is a small village in Lincang, near the river that separates the 2 Yunnan regions between Pu Er and Lincang. It is quiet and isolated here. The region is not always recognized as a good tea region but if you taste the tea you will know that there is a whole region of tea treasures here!

There are many tea gardens in China but it is not rocky everywhere. Those are Wuyi in Fujian, Feng Huan Shan in Chaozhou and Matai in Yunnan.

The tea garden in Matai was planted about 200 years ago. At night, moist air rises from the river, creating fog and clouds. During the day, the sun shines. Because the mountain is high, the sun shines a long day on the tea bushes creating the beautiful flavor. The taste of Matai tea is pure and strong, the nice thing is, the taste can quickly change to sweet with a long aftertaste.

The tea is suitable to store in a ventilated environment with a constant, cool temperature. This Pu Er has been processed into green tea and sun-dried. Then lightly steamed to press into a cake. This makes the production process seem easy but if good raw materials (beautiful tea) are not used, the tea will never be delicious!

By choosing Raw (Sheng) Pu Er, you are choosing the beautiful natural, wild/raw flavor of the tea plant.
