In traditional preparation, a bamboo whisk (chasen) and a bowl with a wide base (chawan) are used. To avoid the formation of lumps, it is important to always sift the matcha powder before pouring it into the bowl. For hot preparation, use water at 80-85°C.
Matcha takes the form of a very fine powder of color jade green that is obtained by grinding stone the tea leaves. In fact, the term "matcha" can be translated from Japanese as "ground tea."
