Rooibos, sometimes misidentified as red tea, is not part of the family to which the tea plant belongs, namely the Camellia Sinensis but to the Spalathus Linearis belonging to the legume family. For this reason, there is no caffeine in its genetic composition and low levels of tannins are present. For this reason, rooibos does not develop the astringency and bitterness typical of some teas, but a smooth, sweet and delicate taste.
