About Ru Pottery

The Ru Kiln, located in Lunru County, Henan Province of China, represents another important celadon school that grew in northern China during the Song Dynasty.

It is one of the top five government kilns from ancient China until now. In the shape similar to Longquan Kiln, Ru Kiln porcelains also have slight cracks, which are created by a small percentage of iron in the glaze that oxidize and turn greenish when fired.

There are different kinds of colors of Ru accessories, such as moon white, light blue, pea green, robin's egg green, sky green, pink green and so on. The cracks will become more and more noticeable as they absorb the tea liquid, the process is quite similar to the Yixing teapot.

Kiln like the sky...

The way to polish/moisten Ru Kiln accessories is exactly the same as Yixing products, which requires wiping the accessories off the water after using them and drying them completely before setting them aside for a long time.

If not, tea stains will disturb the elegant glossy surface of the product, or the tea left inside the item will mold if not cleaned in time and affect the taste of tea in subsequent brews.
