Blue Ru porcelain set decorated with rope-colored ornamental fretwork, consisting of a teapot equipped with a steel filter and two cups.
"...like the blue of the sky in a clearing in the clouds after rain."
For perfect brewing, the teapot should be made of porcelain or ceramic, never metal so as not to alter the flavor of the tea. Also, it should never be washed with detergent or in the dishwasher, but with boiling water and bicarbonate of soda.
The Ru porcelain
The glaze, applied in numerous layers, continues over both the top and bottom edges, as opposed to the rival Ding porcelain, fired upside down and thus with the raw edge devoid of glaze, often covered with a metal band.
The colors vary, and were subdivided and classified by Chinese scholars into "sky blue," "pale blue," and "egg blue," in each case employing the Chinese word 青, qīng, meaning both "blue" and "green."
Capacity: teapot 200 ml, cups 160 ml.
