The Red (Black) Tea Hong Yu Jade GABA (also called Red Jade or Ruby Red) is an internationally recognized premium red tea. It is one of the most unique and best quality red teas in the world, grown and processed from the TRES #18 cultivar.
The special processing involves letting the leaves rest in a nitrogen-enriched, oxygen-deprived environment just after harvesting to stimulate the production of the amino acid GABA, in which the product is very rich. Subsequent processing steps then follow the classic red tea production process: the leaves are rolled (or, in this case, crumpled), left to oxidize completely and finally dried.
The malty, fruity sweetness of this tea, enhanced by fresh, slightly mentholated notes, will know how to bring even those who do not like more tannic, full-bodied flavors closer to this type of product, which is excellent for health as it is rich in gamma-aminobutyric acid of innumerable benefits for our bodies.
Tasting - Sight and Smell
Hong Yu Jade GABA red tea has leaves with a rather narrow rolled shape, with a beautiful color contrast between deep brown and golden ochre. Once infused, the leaves unfurl to their full size, releasing sweet and malty aromas, with notes of caramel and candied fruit and a surprising finish of basil and baked vegetables. The liquor is amber-red, with beautiful bright highlights.
Tasting Notes
GONG FU CHA
The first infusion of Hong Yu Jade GABA red tea is very delicate, with a sweet and fruity taste reminiscent of a plum syrup. There are notes of honey and a vaguely balsamic hint on the finish. With the second infusion the body becomes rounder and softer, red fruits in compote and caramel appear, with the emergence of a slight peppery note. The third and subsequent infusions give a stronger, though still malty, very sweet liquor with no trace of astringency or bitterness. A perfumed wood note appears and the spices are more strongly felt, with black pepper and cardamom lingering for a long time.
TO THE WEST
Hong Yu Jade GABA Red Tea opens with sweet notes of molasses and caramel, followed by fruity hints such as cooked apples and cooked and syrupy plums. A delicate woody and spicy hint (white pepper and black pepper) is then picked up, accompanied by a medium but incredibly enveloping and smooth body. The closure is characterized by an almost mentholated aftertaste that leaves an extremely fresh sensation on the palate: the persistence is in fact sweet, fruity and balsamic.

Infusion Method of Red (Black) Tea Hong Yu Jade GABA
We strongly recommend infusing Red (Black) Tea Hong Yu Jade GABA by the traditional Chinese method (Gong Fu Cha) with a gaiwan with a capacity of about 150 ml. By following this preparation, multiple infusions can be made with 5 grams of leaves that are useful to best capture all the flavor nuances of the tea.
After briefly rinsing the leaves with water at a temperature of 90°C, proceed to an initial infusion of 30 seconds. Keeping the water at the same temperature, you can then continue to exploit the same leaves by adding more water and increasing the infusion time by 10 seconds each time (30-40-50...).
This tea has a longevity of 5 infusions.
For a more classic preparation in the Western style, we recommend 3 grams of leaves (about 2 teaspoons) in a 200 ml cup with water at 90°C for an infusion time of 3 minutes.
For a better tasting experience, we suggest that you strain the infusion as soon as the infusion time is over. Our suggested infusion timings, however, can also be slightly modified to your liking to achieve a more or less intense taste.
We recommend storing in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Benefits of GABA tea
Tees with a high concentration of GABA have a special relaxing effect on our body. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), in fact, is a neurotransmitter that our body already synthesizes and uses in cases when there is a need to reduce excessive arousal of the nervous system.
GABA teas therefore, due to their mild arousing effect, can be drunk without any problems at any time of the day, even by the most sensitive people. In fact, there is still some caffeine present in the leaves, but its effect is almost nil due to the high concentration of gamma-aminobutyric acid and L-Theanine.
In addition to being suitable at all times, GABA teas provide some useful antioxidants and minerals, along with a healthy lifestyle, to slow down cellular aging.
