Tea Soul
DESCRIPTION

The uncooked puer tea cake Feng Huang Wo (Phoenix Nest) has a honey-sweet aroma and a strong, intense taste. The drink is a dream in a cup, sweet, smooth and fragrant. The leaves in this cake were harvested in the Yiwu tea area, an area located in the Yunnan region.

Tasting - Sight and Smell

The puer sheng Feng Huang Wo tea cake has very long and fragrant leaves of brown, green and bronze hues and is very rich in golden buds. Once infused, they give off sweet and fruity aromas of pear, beeswax, honey and incense. The liquor, a deep amber gold, reveals a medium-soft body on the palate, surprisingly devoid of astringency.

Tasting Notes

GONG FU CHA

The first infusion of puer sheng Feng Huang Wo tea gives a sweet and delicate liqueur: we find the hints of beeswax already perceptible on the nose and wildflower honey. With the second infusion, fruity notes of caramelized pear and light hints of incense emerge, which tends to almost disappear with the third infusion, remaining barely perceptible and evolving into delicate hints of resin. The sweet and fruity notes also return, enveloping the palate and lingering pleasantly.

TO THE WEST

With the first sip of puer sheng Feng Huang Wo tea, the sweet and fruity notes characteristic of this tea emerge, reminiscent of pear nectar and quince jam. After this initial sweetness, hints of incense and a light, pleasant savoriness arrive, followed again by sweet notes of honey and beeswax. It is the sugary and fruity notes that linger, enveloping the palate for a long time even after the last sip.

Location of origin

Yiwu, Yunnan, China

Preparation

We highly recommend infusing puer sheng Feng Huang Wo tea in the traditional Chinese method (gong fu cha) to best enjoy these leaves. Following this preparation, 5 grams of leaves (about 4 teaspoons) can be used in a gaiwan of about 150 ml to make several infusions with different tastes. After a quick rinse of the leaves in water at 90°C, a first infusion of 20 seconds can be made, and after that, keeping the water at the same temperature, the time can be increased each time by 5 seconds from the previous infusion (20 - 25 - 30 ...).

This tea has a longevity of about 8 infusions.

For a classic preparation according to the Western style, we recommend 2.5 grams of leaves (a little less than 2 teaspoons) in a 200 ml cup with water at 90°C for an infusion time of 2 1/2 minutes.

The tea can be filtered for ease when tasting and also the infusion times given above here are meant to be purely indicative so you can also adjust according to your personal taste.

We recommend storing the puer sheng Feng Huang Wo tea in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
