Celadon porcelain
Celadon is a type of porcelain, native to China and the Far East, that uses a translucent green or blue vitreous glaze. Celadon is particularly popular in the East as it allows for the green color typical of jade, the sacred stone par excellence.
The blue-green hue of Celadon porcelain comes from a small amount of iron oxide included in the glaze at the time of firing. Celadon porcelain is also typical for the possible presence of relief or embossed decorations, typical of Chinese production, especially from the Song time (960-1279).
