DESCRIPTION
Visit Sri Lanka’s southern coast and the smell of the ocean is in the air and on Handunagoda estate it is complemented by the distinctive smell of burning Cinnamon wood. To many producers, this smell would destroy the flavour of their tea, but to the producers of Handunagoda Estate the smoky aroma is sought after. Smoke is the secret to the first black teas that were produced in China’s Wuyi province between the Qing and Ming dynasties.
Unlike in Wuyi where there is an abundance of Pine Trees, Southern Sri Lanka is blessed with cinnamon.
The smoking of tea over Cinnamon wood gives our Souchong Serendipity a sweet spicy note.
