Remember that green tea is an option that offers many benefits.

A Natural Source of Energy

Japanese green teas renowed for their nutty, umami and grassy flavors, are perfect to enjoy both in the summer and in the winter.

In the summer time, a crisp and revitalizing cold brew can be achieved by placing around 5 grams of high quality Japanese green tea leaves, such as sencha or gyokuro, in a bottle with 500 ml of cold water. Allow the leaves to steep in the refrigerator for approximately 6-8 hours or overnight for optimal infusion.

This method produces a refreshing brew that accentuates the tea's natural sweetness and freshness, providing a perfect break from the summer heat. As winter sets in, a comforting hot brew of Japanese green tea can be made using the same tea.

Preparation

Prepare 5 grams of your favorite japanese tea and put them in a pre-warmed teapot (a kyusu teapot is the best choice). Heat the water to around 70-80°C (158-176°F) and pour 250-300 ml of it in the teapot. Let the tea steep for around 2 minutes, adjusting the brewing time based on your preference, for the first infusion and incresing by 30s for subsequent infusions. Whether served iced during summer or hot during winter, Japanese green teas offer a versatile and enjoyable beverage experience throughout the year.
