Sencha Benifuki

Chà Tea Atelier
DESCRIPTION

Benifuki is a cultivar created by crossing Benihomare and Makura CD86 and introduced to the Japanese market in the 1990s. It has larger leaves and flowers than the Yabukita cultivar, which is the most common cultivar in Japan. These plants have high disease resistance, strong vigor, high yield and a specific aroma, but above all they have in large quantities a special and rare group of catechins, the so-called methylated catechins that have many bioregulatory actions, including anti-allergy and anti-obesity effects (in other types of tea these catechins are not present or are present in smaller quantities). This has made the Benifuki variety one of the most popular in Japan in recent years. The leaves are a lighter green color than other Sencha teas, and in the cup it has a strong taste with characteristic herbaceous notes.
