  • hand-picked in May
  • originating from the area near the village of Kengkou
  • growing altitude: 450 meters
  • cultivar: Da Hong Pao
  • natural farming

Da Hong Pao is a delicious warming tea. Like Tie Guan Yin partially oxidized, but for a longer time and additionally dried over charcoal. Da Hong Pao therefore has a character all its own, warm and rich, partly due to the mineral-rich mountains where the plants grow.

In an old tea book Çha Ling by Lyu was written: 'good quality tea grows among the rocks, medium quality grows in gravel and the least quality grows in yellow earth'. The reason is that on the one hand, the rocks are rich in minerals which are absorbed by the roots of the tea plant. On the other hand, the absence of fertile soil results in slower growth, a different composition of substances in the leaf and therefore ultimately a better taste.

Da Hong Pao is a legendary and one of the most famous teas from China.
