Thee van Sander

A very nice green tea, this Bi Luo Chun. From an early picking and consisting of fine leaves and many buds. In cooperation with the tea maker we managed to process the leaves in such’a way that the picked buds are visible as white needles. This gives an attractive-looking green tea with a fresh grassy flavor.

Bi Luo Chun comes from Dong Ting Mountain in China and has been made for a very long time, since the Tang Dynasty (619-907). Bi Luo Chun became very popular during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and a "top ten" tea (there are several versions but Bi Luo Chun is always in them) during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911).

The explanation of the name Bi Luo Chun is as follows: The deep green color is a characteristic of the tea ('Bi'), the dried and curled leaves resemble a snail ('Luo') and to get the soft white appearance you need to pick the leaves in spring ('Chun').

  • Origin: Jiangsu province, China
