With a climate of cold foggy winters and hot wet summers, there is a climate here that tea plants love. The tea trees here grow wild, that is, they are not planted in neat rows but crisscross each other. As a result, the leaves are also all hand-picked and, after processing, laid out to dry in the sun. They call this tea Sheng tea, as in China the Sheng means sun-dried.
The tea grows on the slopes of Mount Phu Fa which is 1625 meters high. This part of northern Laos is very isolated from roads or an airport. Most transportation is by water and takes about 3 days. As you can imagine, this must be a clean environment in a beautiful natural area.
